✅ **What You’ll Learn**:
Antoine Dupont is arguably the best player of all time.
DuPont lifted back-to-back Six Nations titles on Saturday as France beat England 48-46 in an epic final in Paris.
What eluded the 29-year-old during the early part of his international career was trophies, but that has certainly changed now.
His CV may lack a Rugby World Cup, but it continues to fuel the argument that he is the best player in rugby.
Being outdone by the French rugby star has not been worth the entertainment over the past few seasons.
The France captain won the Best Player award in the Six Nations Championship in 2020, 2022 and 2023.
However, Dupont has yet to recover from the serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury he suffered against Ireland in the fourth round of last year’s Six Nations.
He missed the end of that tournament and French winger Louis-Pierre Pierre truly stole the show.
The 22-year-old has made a record eight attempts to win the tournament’s Player of the Year award.
He lasted 12 months and scored four tries against England to help France win another title, taking his tally in this year’s tournament to nine – breaking his own record.
Billy Peare, who has a strong chance of winning the tournament’s Player of the Year award for the second year in a row, has now scored in 10 consecutive Six Nations appearances, a record he will be looking to extend next year.
Irish legend Brian O’Driscoll is the highest ever scorer in the tournament with 26 points – eight more than Bill Peare, who has only played in 14 Six Nations matches.
The French flyer, who shows no signs of slowing down, is scoring at a rate rarely seen in international rugby.
Bill Peare showed excellent footballing ability to push the ball past England’s Jack Van Poortvliet for his vital fourth try.
Former England winger Ugo Moni told the BBC: “He runs at over 10 meters per second – the fastest player in the Six Nations – and has a brilliant touch. Dennis Bergkamp will be thrilled about that.”
“He’s the Erling Haaland of world rugby. Give him the ball and he’ll finish the game.”
