Irish winger James Lowe is a doubt for their Six Nations match against Wales after sustaining a thigh injury during his side’s 42-21 win over England on Saturday.

The 33-year-old was forced off in the first half of the win over Twickenham and in a squad update provided on Monday, FIFA said he “will continue to be monitored by the medical team” ahead of the match against Wales on Friday, March 6.

They also confirmed that back-row Jack Conan will return to training this week after missing the record win over England due to illness.

Eleven players from Andy Farrell’s squad have been released to play for their counties in the United Rugby Championship this weekend with the Six Nations having a down week.

Nathan Doak, Cormac Isochukwu, Jude Postlethwaite, Tom Stewart and Bryn Ward will return to Ulster for their match away to the Ospreys on Saturday.

Harry Byrne and Cian Prendergast are available for Leinster’s trip to Cardiff on Friday evening while Darragh Murray will return to Connacht for their home game against Glasgow Warriors.

New signing Edwin Edogbo, Tom Farrell and Michael Milne are available for Munster’s home match against Zebre on Saturday.

The rest of the Irish squad will meet again on Wednesday for a two-day camp in Dublin.
