Rhys-Zammit returned to rugby after trying to break into the NRL last summer and started five of Tandy’s six matches, with the exception of the South Africa match when he was unavailable.
The full-back has enjoyed success with Bristol – who are third in the Premier League and in the last 16 of the European Champions Cup – but has only managed one last-gasp win against Japan on the international stage.
Rhys-Zammit won 17 of his first 32 caps before moving to America, but returned to a different Wales team.
“No regrets,” he said. “It was an amazing experience there but I miss playing rugby and playing for my country.
“I would love to be back in camp and around the boys again, and back in the Six Nations.
“It has obviously been a difficult couple of years for Welsh rugby, but we are trying to do everything we can to get fans off their seats and play exciting rugby.
“Obviously this doesn’t happen overnight but we are working hard behind the scenes to make this a success. It will come.”
Rhys-Zammit will be hoping to cause an upset against the Scots and then watch United continue their unbeaten run at Everton on Monday.
