Steph Curry continued to revel in his sneaker free agent status on Sunday by showing his love for Caitlin Clark by wearing the most popular shoe in the NBA. Curry wore Clark’s Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Light Armory Blue,” which she wore for most of her rookie season in the WNBA.

In the game against the Atlanta Hawks, Curry wore a pair of Clark PE’s in hopes of extending the Golden State Warriors’ winning streak to three. He has been wearing different shoe brands since cutting ties with Under Armor on November 13, 2025.

According to Bloomberg, Caitlin Clark played a role in the breakdown of Steph Curry’s relationship with Under Armour. Curry wanted Clark to be part of the brand, but Under Armor wouldn’t offer the Indiana Fever star a bigger deal compared to what she signed with Nike.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Under Armor offered Clark a four-year, $16 million contract. It was better than Adidas’s $10 million offer, but beat Nike’s eight-year, $28 million offer.

Nike will also release Clark’s first signature shoe later this year, with a logo already designed and presented. The loss of Clark, arguably the biggest women’s basketball star in the world, was not received well by Curry and his representatives.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Pat Benson, the Nike Kobe 6 Protro is the most-worn pair of shoes in the NBA during the 2024-25 NBA season. It remains a favorite shoe among NBA players, including Steph Curry, who played the shoe on Sunday against the Atlanta Hawks.

It was reportedly worn for a total of 63,189 minutes last season, ahead of the No. 2 shoe, the Nike Sabrina 2. The Kobe 6 Protro is also very popular among fans, with a higher retail price on online marketplaces like StockX.

Other shoes in the top five are the Nike Air Zoom GT Cut 3, Nike Kobe 5 Protro, and Air Jordan 39. However, at least the Kobe 6 Protro was dropped during the 2025 NBA Media Day in October.

As for Curry’s sports tour, he also wore Deion Sanders’ Nike Diamond Turf before the game. It was an ode to Sanders, who played for both the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL and the Atlanta Braves in Major League Baseball. He also suited up for the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants.
