The “selling of America” is over – global investors are holding on to US Treasuries

If there were any lingering thoughts that foreign investors were dumping US Treasuries – and threatening to raise interest rates for US households – the latest data from the federal government put that to rest.
New data from the Treasury Department showed foreign investors’ continued appetite for US securities, including bonds issued by the Treasury to finance the deficit. Net capital inflows amounted to more than $300 billion in August and September.
It is the latest evidence that fears of massive inflows from US government bonds after President Donald Trump’s more aggressive-than-expected tariff announcements in April have not panned out.
“‘Sell America’ was a one-week trade in April,” wrote Benjamin Schroeder, chief interest rate strategist at Dutch bank ING. “Since then, it has definitely become ‘buy America again’.”

JPMorgan says so, with analysts telling clients in a note on Thursday — a day after Nvidia’s ( NVDA ) blockbuster earnings hit markets — that it may be time to go “bargain hunting” among stocks of hardware and networking companies that have taken big hits in recent weeks amid concerns about an AI bubble.

The analysts listed 15 stocks with particular exposure to AI that they believe represent the biggest bargains, with most of the risks already “overpriced,” and strong fundamentals that could leave them poised for big gains.
Most of the stocks JPMorgan recommends are down roughly 10% to 30% from their highs in the past four weeks, with one stock down nearly 40%, and one stock down just 5%.

Is the stock market open for Thanksgiving and Black Friday?

Traders are getting a break this week after a busy period in the markets.
US stock and bond markets are closed on Thursday, November 27 for Thanksgiving. Trading picks up again on Friday — or Black Friday, if you prefer — but the days are shortened: the stock market closes at 1 p.m., while the bond market is scheduled to close at 2 p.m.

The next trading breaks come during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The stock market will close at 1 p.m. and the bond market at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, Christmas Eve, and remain closed through the December 25 holiday.
Both markets are closed on January 1, 2026 for New Year’s Day. Stock traders have a full day on New Year’s Eve, but bond trading ends at 2pm on Wednesday 31 December.
