Artists including Sugababes, Wolf Alice, Romy, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Christine and the Queens, Beth Ditto, Beverley Knight, Jasmine.4.T, Kae Tempest and more will perform at an all-star charity concert at Wembley Arena in support of trans rights next year.

Organized by Olly Alexander and the Mighty Hoopla Festival, Trans Mission will also include appearances by figures including Green Party leader Zach Polanski, actor Ian McKellen, comedian Grace Campbell, author Sean Fey, actor Mawan Rizwan, model Monroe Bergdorf and actor Nicola Coughlan.

The gala will raise money for the Good Law Project, a charity that uses the law to push for change and hold government to account, and the charity it leads Not a Phase.

“I believe that community action in these times is not only important – it’s essential! We need real and lasting change. Through solidarity, creativity and collective fundraising, we can resist the politics of fear and exclusion and build a world in which everyone can thrive,” Alexander said in a statement.

“I’m so lucky to know and work closely alongside amazing trans and non-binary people whose creativity and presence are essential to the cultural fabric we all share. Trans Mission will be a special and unforgettable night, and I’m excited to share the stage with so many amazing people who I greatly admire.”

Organizers said the show was in response to the rise in hate crimes and discrimination against trans people, particularly following the UK High Court ruling on biological sex and subsequent interim advice from the Equality and Human Rights Commission.

Glenn Fussell and Jamie Tagg, co-founders of the Mighty Hoopla Festival, said the event had been a long time coming, and that they sought “not only to fundraise but also to stand publicly with the trans community who are under attack on a daily basis. It’s time for us to come together, organize, and unite to fight hate. It’s about allyship, compassion, and supporting those we love.”

Joe Mumme, founder of the Good Law Project, said: “Being trans is a celebration of the limitless potential of the human condition – this incredible lineup is a testament to [trans artists’] Creative genius. As the old world tries to force trans people back into tired social constructs, the Good Law Project couldn’t be prouder to fight for and with the new.

The concert will be held at OVO Arena Wembley on March 11. Tickets will go on sale from 10am GMT on 2 December priced from £28.50.
