The Seattle Seahawks put on a devastating defensive display to defeat the New England Patriots for their second Super Bowl win.
Two of the NFL’s toughest defenses battled it out in Sunday’s game and the Seahawks definitively came out on top to win 29-13 at Levi’s Stadium.
It was a defensive performance for the ages, and Briton Aaden Durdey played a pivotal role, becoming the first foreign coach to win America’s biggest game.
The 46-year-old Seattle defensive coordinator helped create the NFL’s most feared defensive line, which became known as the “Dark Side,” and showed why on NFL’s biggest stage in Santa Clara, California.
New England’s second-year quarterback Drake May missed out on a chance at this season’s Most Valuable Player award, but was stifled by the Seahawks, who had six sacks, forced three turnovers and claimed a defensive touchdown.
After Seattle took a 9-0 lead in the first half, Maye’s first turnover led to the game’s opening touchdown to tight end AJ Barner early in the fourth quarter.
Linebacker Uchenna Nwosu returned an interception 45 yards, while Jason Myers kicked a record five field goals.
