“At the end of the day, it’s just about opportunity.

“You have players playing a lot of cricket around the world and getting the experience they need. That gap is definitely closing.”

Scotland, who lost to the West Indies in their first match before beating Italy in the second, initially missed out on qualifying for this tournament.

They were added with two weeks’ notice when Bangladesh opted to boycott and Wale said the last-minute nature of their recall helped the players.

“It definitely takes the stress away because you’re just immersed in the situation,” he said.

“But as I said, at the end of the day, the players have been training hard.

“They know their skills and support their talents.

“So no matter what preparations and preparations we’ve done, over the last couple of weeks, we’ve kind of come together as a team and accepted the situation as it is.”
