England striker Tammy Abraham has completed his return to Chelsea for £18m Aston Villa From Besiktas.

The 28-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Premier League title challengers, as he returns to England for the first time since joining Roma in 2021.

Abraham was on loan at Besiktas from Roma, but the Turkish club activated their purchase option on Monday for £11m, so Villa will pay them the money.

Villa boss Unai Emery has been looking for a striker to back up Ollie Watkins and has a long-term interest in Abraham, who had a loan spell at the club in 2018-19 and helped them to promotion from the Championship.

Villa’s young midfielder Yasin Ozcan, who has been on loan at Anderlecht this season, will join Besiktas as part of the deal.

Roberto Owolabi, Villa’s head of football operations, traveled to Türkiye to watch Abraham play in Besiktas’s 1-0 win over Kayserispor last week.

The striker could feature against Brentford on Sunday but is not registered to play in Thursday’s Europa League match against Red Bull Salzburg.

Villa occupies third place in the First Division, four points behind leaders Arsenal, after Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle.
