Lindsey Vonn slammed a troll for throwing shade at her amid her preparations for the Olympics. Vonn returned to the sport six years later in November 2024 after undergoing successful knee replacement surgery.
Vonn initially announced her retirement in 2019 after suffering a series of serious injuries. She suffered a serious knee injury in November 2018, but decided to continue competing during the season due to nerve damage and the absence of an LCL. Vonn announced that the 2018-19 season will be her final year of competition. She won a bronze medal in the downhill in Are, Sweden, in 2019, which was her last race before retirement.
Vonn returned to the sport at the age of 40. However, she faced constant criticism, with trolls criticizing her for returning at a later stage in life. In a recent incident, she received a message on Instagram from a troll, who wrote an offensive and insulting comment that said:
“You’re absolutely disgusting. You have no role model. Glad you’re hurt, and I hope you miss the Olympics, you disgusting ‘American’. Go tree sledding.”
These statements were not received well by the American skater, who replied:
“One of the downsides of social media. Thank you for hoping I die Brad…”
Vonn shared a screenshot of the conversation on her Instagram Story.

A few days ago, Vonn also responded to Slovenian Ilka Stohec for referring to her as “grandma.”
Lindsey Vonn writes emotional letter after appearing in Time magazine

Lindsey Vonn recently appeared on the cover of Time magazine. In an Instagram post, she wrote a heartfelt note, stating that she never gives up, no matter the setbacks.
“I never would have imagined, even in my wildest dreams, that my life would lead me here. I’m just a girl from Minnesota who wanted to ski fast. But this cover means I’ve done a lot more in my life than just ski fast. People may not know what I did on the mountain, but they know that no matter how many times I fall, I will always get back up, and I hope it inspires others to do the same!”
Lindsey Vonn added:
“At 41, I’m still chasing dreams, I’m still pushing boundaries, and I still believe in what’s possible. And I hope anyone reading this will remember: Never give up on yourself. Never stop dreaming.”
After her return, Vonn secured two podium finishes in 2025.
