📌 **What You’ll Learn**:
Performance was consistently good around my home, with some of the fastest speeds I’ve recorded at close and medium distances. My top pick, the Orbi 770 series, outperformed the BE67 in some scenarios. By default, the 6GHz band is a separate SSID called _6GHz, and MLO is turned off. I joined my Pixel 10 Pro XL, and after multiple speed tests at close range (up to 8 feet), I generally got about 100Mbps faster download speeds than on the 5GHz band, but this dropped off sharply with distance. The 6GHz range is much shorter, and after just one room, the signal strength was clearly weaker than 5GHz. If you want to take advantage of 6GHz for wireless connectivity, the routers can’t be too far apart or have too many obstructions, otherwise you’ll have dead zones. I don’t think the coverage is as extensive as TP-Link suggests, though, as a lot depends on your home; The Orbi 770 provided slightly better range for me.
Disappointingly, HomeShield’s free tier offers only limited security, Security+ costs $5 per month or $36 per year for web and intrusion protection with notifications and reports, while Total Security costs $70 per year for the first year ($130 per year after that) and adds hardware antivirus, a VPN service, and a password manager. Advanced parental controls require a second subscription at $3 per month or $18 per year for time limits, downtime scheduling, rewards, app time limits, Safe Search, Insights, and reports. Quality of Service allows you to prioritize specific devices and set permissible bandwidth limits. There is also a mixed mode security option for WPA2 and WPA3. You can also split the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and create guest or IoT networks.

The Deco app and web interface are powerful but somewhat limited in terms of options. The app was able to identify many devices on my network, but this required me to share the data with a third party. There’s now an option to run a speed test on your router to see what your ISP has to offer, which is handy. At first, this three-pack gave me reliable, fast internet throughout my house and garden, although some instability crept in after a few months, which was sometimes noticeable when everyone was home and online at the same time.
However, TP-Link has quite a few similar mesh systems, and I’ll run through some alternatives below. In terms of performance and price, the BE67 falls between the flagship BE63 and BE85, and I think it’s the sweet spot in the TP-Link lineup for most people. The Deco BE68 is the same system as the BE67, but is exclusive to Best Buy.
Best for simplicity
Amazon’s Eero mesh systems are some of the easiest to set up, provide fairly wide coverage, and provide a stable connection. The Eero Pro 6E is a sleek system, available as two or three identical routers. The Eeros can be easily integrated onto a table or shelf, and is equipped with a USB-C port for power and two 2.5Gbps and 1Gbps Ethernet ports. This tri-band system supports Wi-Fi 6E, offering the 6GHz band alongside 2.4 and 5GHz, and is designed to be a set-it-and-forget-it mesh system.
The Eero Pro 6E performed admirably in my tests, with no drops and a proven ability to share bandwidth effectively. The mobile app is straightforward, giving you an overview of connected devices with the option to pause the internet and set up a guest network. I can also create profiles, group devices, set schedules, and set sleep times. Unfortunately, content filtering, other parental controls, advanced security, ad blocking, and activity insights require an Eero Plus subscription at $10 per month or $100 per year.
