Playing in just his second game since returning from a two-game suspension, Jalen Duren got into another heated exchange on Monday night. Doeren was involved in a rushing fumble in the second quarter of the game between the San Antonio Spurs and Detroit Pistons.

With less than three minutes left in the first half, Cade Cunningham was called for an offensive foul after shoving Stefon Castle to the ground. Keldon Johnson responded by shoving Cunningham, with Doren approaching and pointing at the Spurs striker.

Fortunately for both teams, things did not escalate and calm prevailed. Austin Rivers, who was calling the game for NBC, joked about Isaiah Stewart not being at the game.

“Good thing Isaiah Beef Stew isn’t there,” Rivers said.

Jalen Doeren and Keldon Johnson were called for double technical fouls for their brief interaction. It was a necessary warning as things were getting heated between the two teams.

Coach JB Bickerstaff also pulled Duren as well as Cade Cunningham for the remainder of the quarter. Duren has already been suspended for two games after fighting with Moussa Diabate before halftime of the All-Star Game in an all-out brawl against the Charlotte Hornets.

Diabaté and Miles Bridges were each suspended four games, while Isaiah Stewart was suspended seven games. Stewart was on the bench when the fight occurred and got into an altercation with Bridges. He also had a history of fights, so that was taken into consideration to determine his sentence.

The brawl between the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets began after Moussa Diabate fouled Jalen Duren. They confronted each other, with Doreen pushing Diabate, leading to an intense fight.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Diabate attributed the fight to being competitive and apologized for losing his temper.

“It became completely different when he put his hand in my face, and I lost control of my emotions,” Diabate said, according to Sports Illustrated. “When he put his hand in my face, I think that’s when I lost control. It obviously wasn’t supposed to happen.”

Doreen shared the same sentiments about the game being competitive, and it wasn’t personal.

“It’s just a very competitive game, emotions run high,” Doreen said. “Ultimately, we’d like to keep it in basketball, but things happen.”

It’s possible that the two teams will meet in the first round of the playoffs, so it will be a series to watch if that happens.
