The Chilean gymnast could take home the bronze medal in Paris

US gymnast Jordan Chiles may regain the bronze medal that was stripped from her at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Chiles (24 years old) lost third place after the appeal, while Romanian Ana Barbuso advanced from fourth place to win the bronze medal.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled in favor of Barbuso in 2024, but Switzerland’s Supreme Court sent the case back.

Chiles forfeited her medal after it was determined that an inquiry by the US team about her score fell outside the one-minute time limit.

But Cass will now examine the recording that can show that the challenge was made at the right time.

The Swiss Federal Court said in a statement: “In the very exceptional circumstances of the case in question, it considers that there is a possibility that the audio and video recording of the final match could lead to an amendment of the contested ruling in favor of the plaintiff (Chile).

Cass said in a statement that it “can now ensure a comprehensive judicial review of the new evidence that has since been provided.”

Chiles said she received racist abuse online after the incident and came third on US TV show Dancing with the Stars last year.
