The European distraction is fading for Rangers with the focus on the huge month

“I am now fully focused on the league,” Ruhl told the media a few minutes after kicking the final ball in Portugal.

Maybe that would be a boon for the Rangers coach. They are on an impressive run domestically, winning their last seven matches, and the lack of European distraction could help them sharpen their focus.

Three of the next four games will really test its credentials. Firstly, it’s Hibs at Easter Road on Sunday afternoon (14:00 GMT).

After matches against faltering Kilmarnock and Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup, they face Motherwell at Fir Park on February 11 (20:00).

Four days later, they welcomed Hearts to Ibrox – who had beaten them twice already this season. Three of the top five, two away from home. It’s a big test of their credentials.

“We are now fully focused on the 15 days of matches in the league, and this helps us have a normal two weeks,” Röhl added. “It’s the first time we can really train and we can be fresh.

“We’ve done well in terms of rotation. In the next two and a half weeks, we have big games and we need everyone. Some players will be back, some trained today.

“We have kept one coach with them in Glasgow to be as prepared as possible. On Sunday, we will be back again with complete conviction.”
