✅ **What You’ll Learn**:

“Files inherently solve a problem, which is how to maintain a clean, tidy space of variable length between two objects,” says Stephen Harton, senior product manager at Herman Miller. He says the design choice was inspired by the coiled cables in ancient technology such as telephones and early mechanical keyboards. The result is fun and organized.

Finally, there is the turntable. This is the height adjustment mechanism found on the Coyl desk. Instead of using traditional paddles or levers to make the desk move up or down, Herman Miller uses a dial that looks like something you’d find on an old stereo — or a really cool gaming mouse. Allows you to adjust the desk height to 10ths of an inch. (The screen shows the exact height of the table.) This level of detail is an ode to the kind of precision that gamers love, as they delve into settings to maximize performance.

“Sensory-wise, what you feel and the feedback you get is an elevated experience relative to a button or a switch,” says Harton. “When you use a disc, there’s resistance to it and that’s exhilarating.” We’ll have to wait for Knob Feel’s verdict on exactly how good it is.

There are other compliments. The Coyl desk has built-in hooks on both sides, which players can use to hang their headphones or backpack. An optional back panel upgrade adds a classic pegboard to the desk, allowing gamers to add small shelves and hooks to hold game consoles, small plants, lamps, or their favorite Funko Pop. There is also the option to add other Herman Miller accessories such as monitor mounts.

The basic version of the Coyl desk starts at $1,095. Add the cable management dock, and it costs $1,495, and with the back panel, it’s $1,635. The round laminate desktop comes in four colors: black, white, walnut and ash. You can program up to four height presets for the desk.
