Birmingham Phoenix have signed opening batsman Mitch Owen and seamer Lucy Hamilton for the 2026 Hundred season.
Owen has made 16 white-ball appearances for Australia since making his debut in July.
The 24-year-old was the top run-scorer in the 2024-25 Big Bash League and propelled the Hobart Hurricanes to their maiden title with a 39-ball knock in the final, the fastest in the competition’s history.
The 19-year-old Hamilton native has played 21 matches for the Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bash League over the past four seasons and is the youngest player to take five wickets in the tournament’s history.
“Lucy and Mitch are two players we are excited to bring into the Phoenix environment,” said Phoenix Performance Director James Thomas.
“Lucy is a talented young bowler with great potential and we believe this is the ideal place for her to continue her development.
“Mitch adds strength, versatility and a competitive edge to our men’s team, and his skillset fits the Hundred formula very well.”
Hamilton joins Alice Capsey, Lauren Weiler and Ellyse Perry in the Phoenix women’s squad, while Owen is the third signing for the Phoenix men’s team after Rayhan Ahmed and Jacob Bethell.
The men’s team is allowed to make one more signing before the inaugural Hundred Auction, where the rest of the team’s lineups will be decided.
