Sunrisers Leeds have retained English players Harry Brook and Brydon Carse for the 2026 edition of The Hundred, with Daniel Vettori appointed as the new men’s head coach.
Multi-format internationals Brook and Carse have been with the team, known as the Northern Superchargers until their recent takeover, since the inaugural 2021 Championship season.
Sun Group, owner of Indian Super League side Sunrisers Hyderabad, last year paid just over £100m for a 100% stake in the franchise based at Headingley’s home in Yorkshire.
Brook, 26, and Cars, 30, were both part of England’s recent Ashes campaign and are in their provisional squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Test vice-captain and England white-ball captain Brook has come under scrutiny for his off-field behavior before and during the Ashes match, which Australia won 4-1.
Batter Brook has played nine of the Superchargers’ matches in the 2025 edition of The Hundred, scoring 227 runs at an average of 37.83 and is said to be set to earn nearly £500,000 for his involvement with the Sunrisers.
Fast bowler Kars did not feature at all in the competition last year, after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) rested him in order to manage his workload.
This summer’s edition of The Hundred will run from July 21 to August 16, and will be played in a gap in the schedule between England’s white-ball series against India and the Test series against Pakistan.
Sunrisers Leeds have also announced the direct signings of all-rounder Mitch Marsh and seamer Nathan Ellis, with the experienced Aussie duo set to be available for the entire tournament.
Teams in The Hundred are allowed to make up to four holds before the auction or live signing with the first ever auction scheduled to take place in March.
Former New Zealand player Vettori, 46, takes over from former England captain Andrew Flintoff as head coach of the franchise’s men’s side.
Flintoff, 48, has been in charge of the Superchargers for the past two seasons, but said he was “worth more” than what the Sunrisers offered him.
Vettori has been the head coach of IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2023.
“I’m looking forward to next season with the Sunrisers and hope the Orange Army can fill the stands,” Vettori said.
