In total, 964 players have signed up for the auction, which will be the first of its kind in the UK after the tournament moved away from a draft system following outside investment in the eight teams.

The men’s list includes England batsman Joe Root, Adil Rashid, wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow and last year’s top run-scorer Jordan Cox – all of whom have not been retained by their franchises.

Stokes has not played in the competition since 2024, having skipped it last year to manage his workload.

Mark Wood, who is currently recovering from a knee injury following the Ashes match, is not on the list, nor is veteran bowler James Anderson.

Foreign names include South Africa internationals Quinton de Kock, David Miller and Aiden Markram, as well as West Indies internationals Jason Holder, Shirvan Rutherford and Shimron Hetmyer.

Pakistanis Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Muhammad Nawaz and Naseem Shah also recorded the highest men’s reserve price of £100,000. Usman Tariq, the enigmatic Pakistani spinner, is also on the list.

Teams will consist of 16 to 18 players, while there is a salary cap as well as a salary collar – the minimum amount teams must spend.

Total salaries for the men’s competition for 2026 rose by 45% to £2.05m per side, and the women’s teams’ payroll increased by 100% to £880,000.

England internationals Em Arlott, Amy Jones, Danielle Gibson, Sarah Glynn and Lynsey Smith are among the players entering the draft at the reserve price of £50,000.

Davina Perrin, who scored a century at 18 in last year’s elimination, has set her reserve price at £37,500.

South African player Nadine de Klerk, New Zealander Sophie Devine, Australian Beth Mooney, and Indian Risha Ghosh are the other players in the highest category. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur is a notable absentee.

There are no Indians on the men’s list.

Current India internationals are not currently allowed to play in leagues other than the Indian Premier League, but England and Wales Cricket Board chairman Richard Thompson said it was “only a matter of time” before they feature for The Hundred.
