Porsche On Wednesday, the German car company Cayenne unveiled a fully electric version of its Cayenne SUV, describing it as “the most powerful production car ever by the German sports car manufacturer.”

The 2026 Cayenne EV has 1,139 horsepower, 0-60 mph in 2.4 seconds and up to 1,106 pound-feet of torque, according to Porsche. The company said its top speed reaches 162 miles per hour.

The car that previously held the title of “most powerful road-legal Porsche” was the 1,019 hp Taycan Turbo GT.

To achieve peak vehicle performance, Porsche said launch mode must be activated. In normal driving mode, the car has a power of up to 844 horsepower.

The top-end Turbo Electric model starts at $163,000, making it among the most expensive Porsches on sale. The lower-performance standard model — 402 horsepower and 615 foot-pounds of torque — starts at $109,000.

Porsche said the Cayenne Electric features a 113-kilowatt-hour battery and an 800-volt electrical architecture system capable of charging from 10% to 80% in less than 16 minutes. The new electric car is also the first Porsche to have the option of inductive or wireless charging, but it comes at a much slower pace than conventional charging.

Porsche said that orders for the Cayenne Electric are open, and deliveries are expected to begin at the end of the summer of next year.

The launch of the all-electric SUV comes two months after Porsche confirmed that it would withdraw its previously announced electric vehicle plans to continue offering cars with internal combustion engines, including hybrids.

“We have put in place the final steps in realigning our product strategy,” Porsche CEO Oliver Blume said in a statement in September. “We are currently witnessing huge changes in the automotive environment. That is why we are reorganizing Porsche in all areas.”

The U.S. electric vehicle market — an important area for automakers — faced massive regulatory changes under the Trump administration this year, including the end of consumer credits of up to $7,500 to purchase an electric vehicle.

The Cayenne EV will be offered alongside a combustion engine model as well as a plug-in hybrid electric version, according to Porsche.

The Cayenne is Porsche’s third electric car for the US market after the Taycan in 2019 and the Macan in 2024.
