The Pentagon releases a new set of declassified UFO files

The Pentagon issued A collection of long-awaited files on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) was released on Friday, including newly declassified documents that the public has never seen before.

Nearly 160 documents have been posted on a new website. Among these treasures is video footage and photos of puzzling UAP sightings captured around the world. The files also contain scanned historical materials about government UAP and unidentified flying object (UFO) programs dating back to the 1940s and the Apollo program.

Although it would take days to comb through the finer details, initial highlights include sightings of “orbs shooting orbs” by federal employees in the western United States in 2023, a “distorted, uneven ball of white light” reported by the US military in Syria in 2024, and a compendium of UAP reports from the public in the late 1940s, handwritten or typewritten. The files contain UAP accounts from the Apollo crews, including a flash of light on the lunar surface during the Apollo 17 mission.

Some of the images include an amoeba-like shape captured by US Indo-Pacific Command in 2024, a bright circular shape photographed by US Central Command in 2024, and unidentified lights in a photo taken by the Apollo 17 crew from the lunar surface.

The mysterious nature of the UAP has fueled the widespread belief that these sightings may be of extraterrestrials visiting Earth. The US government has never claimed to have discovered or encountered extraterrestrial life in any of these disclosures, including the newly released files.

The Pentagon said in a statement that President Donald Trump is “focused on providing maximum transparency to the public, who can ultimately make up their own minds about the information contained in these files.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said in the same statement: “These files, hidden behind classifications, have long sparked justified speculation, and it is time for the American people to see for themselves.”
