Therno Barry: Police are investigating a brawl between fans at Everton’s match against Arsenal after allegations

Police investigated an altercation in the away section at Emirates Stadium afterwards Everton Striker Thierno Barry claimed that his friends were “attacked” during Saturday’s match 2-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Barry, who participated in the 69th minute, said in a post on Instagram that his friends were accompanied by security personnel and police at Arsenal “due to fears of retaliation from our supporters.”

The 23-year-old Frenchman also posted a video of the fans brawling.

The Metropolitan Police said no serious injuries had been reported, no arrests had been made, and they were working with the clubs to identify those involved.

Everton said they were aware of the incident and would “review the circumstances surrounding it”.

The club added: “Violent or disorderly behavior is completely unacceptable and has no place in football.” “It does not reflect the emotional and loyal support Everton receives both at home and away.

He added: “The club will work with the relevant authorities to uncover the facts and take appropriate action.”

“We are working with the Metropolitan Police to investigate.”

A Metro spokesman said: “Officers and supervisors responded to the incident. No serious injuries were reported. Investigations are ongoing and we are working with both clubs to identify those involved. There have been no arrests.”

Barry wrote in his post: “This kind of behavior is unacceptable on the field. I bring my friends to enjoy the match and it is ruined by a few silly people.”

“Football should be a place where everyone feels safe and respected. This kind of attitude has no place in the game and cannot be tolerated in football.

“My friends and the people who were attacked had to be escorted out by Arsenal security staff as well as police due to fears of retaliation from our fans.”
