✅ Here’s what you’ll learn:

Hunting party

9pm, U&Alibi
American crime thriller in which former FBI analyst Rebecca Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh) returns to clean up after the explosion of a secret underground prison. The opening of the second episode surprisingly establishes how terrified they must be about serial killers on the run – including Clayton Jessup, who targets happy families and is looking to kill again. Holly Richardson

Repair shop

8pm, BBC One
Fans of Mitchell and Webb may have a hard time seeing The Repair Shop in the same way after their hysterical parody The Weeping Shed. But in reality, it’s still one of the most beautiful shows on television, as this week’s episode – which features an adorable pair of motorcycle goggles – confirms. Hannah J. Davis

Celebrity traitors

9pm, BBC One
At the time of writing, Alan Carr is still – one way or another – the traitor to watch, and Jonathan Ross may be on the verge of being caught and exiled. But the real question, of course, is: what will Celia Imrie do next? It continues on Thursday. Human resources

Grand designs

9pm on Channel 4

Castle in the Sky… Kevin McCloud with Pierce and Emma at Grand Designs. Photography: Rob Brown/Channel 4

This week’s project is the biggest in Grand Designs’ history: Piers and Emma purchased a castle outside Stratford-upon-Avon and decided to demolish it so they could create a futuristic 1,100-square-metre replacement, complete with moat and tower. Their £2.2 million budget quickly evaporates, as they are overwhelmed by the sheer scale and complexity of the job – but they refuse to give up. Jack Seale

BBC New Comedy Awards 2025

9pm, BBC Three
Week three of the hunt for a big name in comedy, and Sarah Pascoe hosts the South of England at Alexandra Palace. Catherine Bohart and Michael Odewale are guest judges, along with Fatiha Al-Ghouri. They fight: Blank Bing, Fab Gualin, Sharifa Butterfly, Sydney May and Evaldas Karosas. Human resources

Best Houses in New Zealand with Phil Spencer

At 10pm on Channel 4
New Zealand is a country of contrasts, with an incredibly diverse landscape. Some properties make the most of those views. Although located just two hours east of Auckland, the ultimate beach house on the Coromandel Coast feels, as Phil says, “like a world away.” Elsewhere, there’s a huge luxury barn near Queenstown, and a beautiful lakeside home at Lake Wanaka. Little player song (Edward Berger, 2025), now, Netflix

After Conclave proved to be a ridiculous (and unusually well-timed) bit of Oscar bait, all eyes were on director Edward Berger to see what he would do next. And what he does do is “Junior Player Song,” which sounds like the exact opposite of “Conclave.” A racy, sweaty thriller set in Macau, dreamed up by Colin Farrell, an aristocratic English gambler struggling to pay off his debts while trying to get rid of Tilda Swinton, playing a woman who learns of his true identity. Although the results aren’t quite as satisfying as Conclave, it’s very interesting to see a director as elegant as Berger turn his hand to something so trivial. Stuart Heritage

calm (Nia DaCosta, 2025), Now, Prime Video
Between Marvel and its sequel 28 years later, Nia DaCosta has quietly directed an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s 134-year-old play Hedda Gabler. It’s far from the first – there have been at least 20 others – but it’s certainly the most recent. Tessa Thompson stars, and the debauchery is intensified beyond all comprehension. You’d be hard-pressed to find a review of this film that doesn’t compare it to Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn; If nothing else, it should quench your thirst for an exciting period until Fennell’s Wuthering Heights debuts in February. Late at night with the devil (Cameron and Colin Cairns, 2023), 9 p.m Movie4
Just when you thought you’d exhausted found footage horror, 2023’s brilliant Late Night With the Devil comes along to revive it. The found footage comes in the form of a 1977 Halloween episode of the talk show that went off the rails after a possessed 13-year-old girl showed up. The fun comes not only from how terrifying it is, but from the fun it takes to subvert show business tropes. It’s a perfect recreation of a time when late night hosts were the most powerful people on television. Sh
