Tottenham: Goalkeeper Antonin Kinski earns redemption after making a great save against Leeds United

Two months ago questions were raised about whether Tottenham Goalkeeper Antonin Kinski will play for the club again.

The Czech international endured a nightmare 17-minute spell in the Champions League round of 16 match against Atletico Madrid last March, which saw him concede three goals, before he was replaced by coach Igor Tudor.

But after making one of the greatest saves of the season to deny Leeds a late win on Monday – ensuring Tottenham pick up a point towards potential Premier League survival – the 23-year-old may have gone some way to redeeming himself.

Matthijs Till’s 50th-minute goal put Tottenham ahead but the striker was awarded a penalty for a high shot on Ethan Ampadu after 24 minutes and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored from the spot to equalize at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Both teams looked for a winner 13 minutes into extra time and Leeds thought they had found it in the 99th minute when James Justin set up Sean Longstaff and the midfielder fired a powerful shot at the near post from close range.

Enter Kinski, who stretched out to get the ball with his fingertips and make sure it hit the crossbar and not the roof of his net.

It’s impossible to say how significant this rescue will be at the end of the season, but it currently leaves Spurs two points clear of West Ham in the relegation zone with two games remaining.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports: “This save is one of the best saves of the season.”

“Football is an absolute roller coaster and who would have thought he would play for Tottenham again – then he did.

“You have to have a heart of stone if you’re not happy with him. Everyone thought his career was over, but this save could be the moment that keeps Tottenham in the Premier League.”
