Tottenham HotspurThe main supporters’ group accused the club of a “significant decline in ambition” after meeting with senior figures at the club.

Tottenham have won just one of their last six Premier League matches, and find themselves 14th in the table with 27 points, just three more than they were at this stage last season.

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust (THST) says its board members met with “club representatives at a senior level” on Friday to discuss fans’ concerns.

Several players were dragged away from angry fans following the 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth on Wednesday.

Sections of the traveling support booed manager Thomas Frank, who also attracted criticism for drinking from a coffee cup emblazoned with rivals Arsenal’s logo before kick-off.

A THST statement pointed to the club’s lack of transfer activity this month as evidence of low ambition, in addition to recent comments made by Frank.

“[He reminded] The statement read: “The club finished 17th in the Premier League last season, that the club only participates in the Champions League by winning the Europa League, that Bournemouth (a team without a win in 11 matches) is always a difficult team, and that it does not enjoy the job.”

THST accused the players of “direct confrontation” with fans who “exercise their right to express themselves”, and pointed to the “embarrassment” caused by club captain Cristian Romero’s activity on social media.

After the Bournemouth loss, Argentine Romero said on Instagram that “other people” should come out and speak, adding that they “only show up when things are going well, to tell some lies.”

The post was deleted and reposted with the caption modified.

THST said: “Although these events may have explanations that we can understand and even sympathize with, they demonstrate a lack of understanding and lack of concern for the perception of the football club.”

“We emphasized to the club that we believe the club leadership should address these issues publicly and through direct communication with fans.

“We have stressed that fans need to hear directly from the club leadership [of] The club’s football ambition for this season, next season and the foreseeable future.

“This begins, but certainly is not limited to, the upcoming transfer window, where all stops must be pulled out in order to prove that Tottenham Hotspur is a serious football club and that we really want to win more, more often.”

Frank said during his media conference on Thursday: “I think it is very important to stress that although there is noise, the club is very cohesive.

“[Sporting director] Johan [Lange], [chief executive] Vinay [Venkatesham] I very much agree. Ownership is very compatible. We know that it is a difficult period and we must overcome it.”
