Frank was appointed as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement over the summer after Tottenham finished 17th last season.
Tottenham have already shown signs of recovery in defence, with seven clean sheets under Frank in the Premier League, having managed just six league appearances throughout the 2024-25 season under Postecoglou.
They won 1-0 over Crystal Palace before the trip to Brentford.
Frank acknowledges that there are still other areas for improvement, but insists that there are plenty of reasons to be positive.
“It’s not perfect, we want to be a free-flowing team,” Frank said.
“There are some things I’ve gone to reinforce in a positive way which are our last two away games. The foundation we’ve been building has been very strong and we’ve been very strong defensively. That’s very important and we’ve understood how to close down their transitions.”
“We are working hard on the offensive side of the game.
“Football is a game of mistakes. You lose the ball, that’s what happens, but if half of those mistakes were better, it would provide more attacks.”
Frank, who spent seven years in charge of Brentford, was unable to call on several key figures on Thursday as he continues to deal with a long list of absentees.
James Maddison, Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski are among those ruled out through injuries, while Xavi Simons is serving a suspension.
“The outlook is good and I also think we’re probably going through a bit of a transition,” Frank said.
“It doesn’t mean we don’t want to play a lot better, but the club, the team, the injuries, everything taken into account is part of that.”
Tottenham return to action on Sunday when Sunderland visit north London at 15:00 GMT.
