FORMER England netball player and coach Tracey Neville has been appointed managing director of Stockport County Women’s Football.

Neville, the younger sister of former England and Manchester United football brothers Gary and Phil, joins the club following its rebranding from Stockport County Ladies.

The team, formed in 1989, plays in the Women’s Fourth Division of the National League One North.

However, Stockport says it now aims to “become a superpower for women’s sport in our region”.

Neville played 81 caps for England as a netball player, and coached the country to a gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and a World Cup semi-final in 2019.

The 49-year-old then coached the Melbourne Mavericks in Australia for two years before leaving in August 2025.

“I am extremely proud to be joining Stockport County at such a pivotal moment for the club and the women’s game,” she told the club’s website., external
