Earlier in the day, Anna Morris collected her third championship medal after a perfectly timed final sprint in the women’s points race.
Morris added to her individual pursuit gold and bronze in the team pursuit.
“I’m really happy. I wasn’t sure when the race was going to end – I thought I was in the top five but my coach told me I was second,” Morris said.
βIt was a solid week overall.β
Meanwhile, Matt Richardson – who switched allegiance from Australia to Great Britain last year – also claimed silver on the final day after coming up short against long-time rival Harry Lavriesen of the Netherlands in the men’s sprint final.
Lavreysen won the first race by 0.094 seconds and was 0.050 seconds ahead of Richardson in the second race to claim his seventh consecutive World Championship gold medal in the event.
In the men’s Madison race, Mark Stewart and Josh Tarling finished second behind the Belgian duo Lindsay de Velder and Fabio van den Bosch, collecting 73 points – eight points less than the champion – in the 200-lap race.
It brings Great Britain’s final medal tally to 14 β winning four gold, eight silver and two bronze β but finished second to the Netherlands in the overall table.
Speaking to BBC Sport, British sprint coach and seven-time Olympic champion Sir Jason Kenny said: βWe missed out on some medals that we felt we should have been competitive for, but we’ve got a really good group with some new medal winners, so it’s really exciting.
βThe fact that we were on the podium more than ever before shows that we were competitive across the board, which is really positive.
“Next year’s World Championships are going towards Olympic qualification, so things are going to start getting really serious, and I think given the age profile of the team – and the fact that we’re able to compete in so many events – it’s a really good place to start the Olympic journey,” he added.
