💡 Main takeaway:
Brenden Aaronson (Leeds): I think that was a great call for his input. There has been little call for his ouster. He scored the opening goal, and missed a few chances weeks ago, but it was a tremendous performance. He stepped up to the game and took the initiative to say, ‘I’m going to be the difference maker today.’ He showed why he should be in the Leeds team.
Granit Xhaka (Sunderland): A lot of people will look at all the new signings, and look at the young players that Sunderland have. Xhaka is the general on this pitch. He organizes, intervenes, and makes people do the running for him. It reminds me of what John Terry was like at Chelsea towards the end of his career. He’s just a level above everyone else. The way he wraps passes, he does everything right. For me, it was exciting.
Brian Mbeumu (Manchester United): I wanted to put Matheus Cunha ahead but Mbeumo scored the second goal. You can see that he has found himself now, he is comfortable, the shirt is not a problem, playing for Manchester United is not a problem. He and her are the reason they can move up in the league. They’re both talented, they’re both exceptional. The two goals scored by Mbeumo were fantastic. When things finally got a little tough, that opportunity fell to him and I don’t think anyone thought he was going to miss it. Huge for him, huge for Manchester United.
Wilson Isidore (Sunderland): He’s really moved on to the Premier League a lot more than I thought he would. I thought he would suffer if I was 100% honest. He didn’t set the world on fire in the tournament, scoring only 12 goals, which is too bad considering the team ended up getting promoted. He’s also a bit brave, a bit rude, but he’s doing really well in the Premier League. Perhaps his escalation forced him to raise his game.
