✅ **What You’ll Learn**:

Sweden-based caller ID app Truecaller said on Tuesday that it has reached 500 million monthly active users on its platform. The company said it has also crossed the 150 million user mark outside India, its largest market with over 350 million monthly users.

The company said it added 50 million users in 2025, and its user base has doubled in the past five years. In April 2025, Truecaller said it had more than 450 million users. The company also noted that more than 4 million people have subscribed to its paid plans.

“More and more people need help dealing with spam, scams and unwanted communications every day,” Truecaller CEO Rishit Jhunjhunwala said in a statement. “Reaching 500 million users demonstrates the scale of this need, and the trust people are putting in Truecaller to help make calling more secure.”

He added: “Our commitment remains focused on continually enhancing Truecaller with smarter technology and new capabilities that protect users before, during and after every call or message. Ultimately, our goal is to build a safer and more trusted communications ecosystem for everyone. We now have our next target: 1 billion users.”

Truecaller has been trying to expand its services beyond caller ID in the past few years. The company recently launched a feature that will allow one person to become an administrator and end calls on behalf of their family group users to avoid being scammed. The company has also experimented with using artificial intelligence to screen and answer calls.

Truecaller told TechCrunch last month that it is also testing the use of artificial intelligence to automatically monitor dropped calls when it detects certain words associated with scams, such as “digital arrest” — a tactic in which perpetrators impersonate law enforcement officers to extract information or money from call recipients.

In India, the company faces challenges from the country’s Caller Name Display (CNAP) system, which displays the caller’s name as registered in their phone networks.
