💡 **What You’ll Learn**:
The Trump administration has approached Microsoft for a donation to fund the $300 million White House ballroom, documents released by the office of Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) reveal.
“At that time, Microsoft was provided with information regarding the Trust for the National Mall’s management of contributions to this project as a partner of the National Park Service, instructions on how to donate, and an invitation to attend a dinner held for project supporters, which Microsoft attended,” Christian says.
In another letter, Amazon’s vice president of public policy, Brian Hausman, similarly acknowledged that the e-commerce giant “reached out to the fundraising group working on the project beginning in August 2025.” Huisman added that Amazon “has not reviewed any construction plans nor entered into an agreement regarding the donation.”
Meanwhile, Comcast’s letter says the company has “pledged an unrestricted donation to the Trust for the National Mall,” with “no specific restrictions or conditions on how proceeds can be used or spent.” She also says she “made the donation without expecting to receive anything in return.”
Letters written by other companies, including Meta, Nvidia, and Apple, did not reveal much about the donation process. For example, Tim Powderly, Apple’s head of government affairs, wrote that the donation was “handled in an ethical and honest manner, and in full compliance with the law.”
Disclosure: Comcast is an investor in Vox Media. EdgeParent company.
