It doesn’t skip the sadder parts either – but the omission of the music, songs and Paddington 2’s finale is inexcusable. Human resources

She plays Alice, who goes on a week-long lakeside vacation with her best friends Sophie (Wunmi Mosaku) and Tess (Kanihtiyo Horn). But her anxious behavior, and constant text messages from her selfish artist boyfriend Simon (Charlie Carrick), suggest a disturbing relationship between coercive control and gaslighting. Luca Guadagnino’s adaptation of William Burroughs’ novel plays with the author’s transgressing myth in a steamy drama featuring a bravura performance from Daniel Craig. Gay American expatriate Lee frequents bars in Mexico City in the 1950s and picks up young men, until the arrival of Drew Starkey’s mysterious Eugene makes him fall hopelessly in love. It’s a romance of sorts, but one of unrequited lust and surreal events, not least a trip to the rainforests of Ecuador in search of ayahuasca and an encounter with Lesley Manville’s off-the-grid world.
