Hacks

9pm, Sky Atlantic
To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of Deborah’s death have been greatly exaggerated (“TMZ Got Bad Advice”), going into the fifth and final season. Determined to “change the narrative,” she works to score a Grammy and an Academy Award in this opening double bill. Will her “Mexican music album” strategy work? And could her autograph session be any worse? Ali Catterall

An unspoken world

7.30pm on Channel 4
The feature-length documentary traces Japan’s cultural transformation. With the number of elderly people being cared for by younger generations declining, and pensions insufficient for living, many older citizens fall into the trap of isolation and poverty. Some of them steal essential goods from stores; Others commit more serious crimes to gain access to the warmth and safety of prison. Jack Seale

Beyond heaven

8pm, BBC One
As the convenient crime continues, D. Humphrey Goodman, played by Kris Marshall, temporarily loses control of himself. When a drunk fisherman claims to have seen a mermaid, Humphrey seems inclined to believe him. However, it soon becomes clear that Humphrey may have heavier personal matters on his mind. Phil Harrison

Young criminals

9.30pm on BBC One
Connor becomes even more bewildered than usual as this charming and charming comedy goes on. Linda Walsh, whom he considers his true love, is getting married. This provides Connor with an opportunity to overcome disappointment and show personal growth. Will he take it? It could go either way. pH

Assembly

At 10.05pm on ITV1
Lenny Henry is the next star to face questioning from the Society’s curious group. No topic is off limits as they ask him questions about racism, his mother’s grief, and the shocking discovery that his uncle is his biological father. Holly Richardson

Claudia Winkelmann Show

This slightly messy couch chat show has managed to charm its host. This time around, Claudia is joined by Ted Lasso star Phil Dunster, Cush Jumbo (they’re filming a new series of the underrated crime drama on Apple TV) and comedian Josh Widdecombe. pH

Bellion (Harry Layton, 2025), 10pm, premieres on Sky Cinema

Love stories come in all shapes and sizes. Harry Layton sets his first provocative film in the world of BDSM. Harry Melling plays introverted traffic controller – and barbershop quartet singer – Colin, who lives with his parents on the outskirts of London. When he’s picked up at the local bar by Adonis-like biker Ray (the mysterious Alexander Skarsgård), he thinks all his dreams have come true. But Ray needs to be the sexually dominant one, so if their new relationship is to survive, Colleen must submit to his every whim. A fascinating exploration of the gay biker subculture and fetish scene that manages to feel transgressive but also poignant, it’s a coming-of-age story in chains. Simon Wardle
