Bake: The Professionals

8pm on Channel 4
With a place in the final six at stake, the four remaining teams must produce twenty pieces of delicious melfe and perfectly executed babka cakes. Before that happens, they’re tasked with creating intricate cookies inspired by ancient wonders of the world (the Hanging Gardens of Bourbon, anyone?) accompanied by elegant mini plates. Ali Catterall

The best medicine

8pm, Sky One
“I’m a doctor, not a social worker!” The late American adaptation of Doc Martin continues, with big-city doctor Martin Best jabbering about the quaint Maine town of Port Wayne. When he feels guilty checking in on a local recluse who missed receiving his monthly supplies, it ends up affecting the entire community. Graeme Virtue

Loyalty

9pm, U&Alibi
It’s funny, sure, but this Canadian police procedural is also entertaining, with just the right amount of ripped-from-the-headlines drama. This week, an Indian wedding turns into chaos when the groom is stabbed and his gifts stolen. What does a group of college students have to do with this? Hannah J. Davis

The Pike County Murders: A Family Massacre

9 p.m., U&W
This true crime series delves into the rural community of Pike County, Ohio to explore a horrific case. In 2016, eight members of the Rhoden family were shot to death in their home. The murders seemed inexplicable, but using first-person testimony and reconstruction, this show deconstructs a deadly and obscure family feud. pH

American Revolution

11.30pm, BBC Four
Through enlightening readings, reconstructions, and conversations, this historically accurate series brings together the story of the battle for American independence. As this penultimate episode begins, Washington’s army is in tatters and the men are licking their wounds at Valley Forge. However, a new alliance is formed that begins to change the dial. pH

Fire country

2am, Sky Witness
This firefighting drama has an emotional register that runs from the melodramatic to the downright hysterical. Returning for Season 4, Cal Fire is still dealing with the fallout from the massive Zabel Ridge fire at the end of last season. There are losses worth mourning, but power struggles and internal politics remain impossible to curb. Maybe another big fire will help the team bond again? Phil Harrison

The First Wives Club (Hugh Wilson, 1996), 11.15pm, Sky Cinema Greats
If Destiny’s Child were all about middle-aged white women, it would be Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton putting the world to rights in this 1996 comedy. They play old college friends who reunite at the funeral of their friend (Stockard Channing) who was driven to his death by an evil ex-husband. Recognizing the similarities to their own situations, this trio of divorcees seek righteous revenge, culminating in a song-and-dance take on Lesley Gore’s female empowerment classic, “You Don’t Own Me.” Ellen E. Jones
