Choose a movie
lost in translation, (Sofia Coppola, 2003), 10 am, Sky Cinema greats
Despite its sometimes stereotypical treatment of Japan, Sofia Coppola’s film is a sweet romantic drama tinged with melancholy. Movie star Bob (Bill Murray) is in Tokyo to film a whiskey commercial; Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) is hanging out alone while her photographer husband works. They meet in a hotel bar, meet lost souls and team up to immerse themselves in a civilization largely foreign to them. Basically, it’s a brief encounter with the addition of karaoke, sushi, and misunderstandings. Simon Wardle
