Two SPFL matches have been stopped due to snow with more inspections to come

Four Scottish Professional Football League matches have been postponed this weekend due to freezing weather across Scotland.

Cove Rangers v Montrose in League One and Elgin City v East Kilbride in League Two on Friday were canceled due to snow in the north-east.

The Championship encounter between Dunfermline Athletic and Ross County has been postponed due to a frozen pitch on Saturday morning with Stirling Albion taking on Annan Athletic in League Two.

Hamilton Academy’s match against East Fife in League One and Spartans’ match against Dumbarton in League Two are subject to pitch inspections on Saturday.

There has already been a lack of certainty over the former, with Hamilton’s players considering not playing after not getting paid on time.

Caretaker manager Darian McKinnon assured fans he would be able to field a team if the game went ahead but admitted the club was in a “critical” state.

In League Two, there will be pitch inspections on Saturday morning at both Stirling Albion and The Spartans, who play Annan Athletic and Dumbarton, respectively.
