Cardiff will host the opening match of the 2028 European Championship, with Wales co-hosting the tournament alongside England, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.

Bellamy, who is looking to lead Wales to the Euro 2028 Championship, has shown his willingness to give opportunities to players during his two years in charge.

Among them is Dylan Lawlor, the 20-year-old Cardiff City defender, who has progressed from the Under-19s to become a first-team regular and has won six caps.

“Even thinking about a couple of the boys who were in the Under-19s last season,” Guenther added.

“Look at Dylan now, who has continued to play, and I think he has played the last four first-team games.

“It can change very quickly and move.”

Arsenal defender Brayden Clarke previously featured in UEFA Under-17 European Championship finals in 2023 and 2024 and is the first Welsh player to be selected for three UEFA Youth Championships.

“There were always going to be a few big calls and disappointing people, which I enjoyed very much,” added Gunter, who succeeded Craig Knight as Under-19s coach.

“But I’m really happy with the strength of the team we have now.

“It’s something that seemed like it was away for a while and then it’s coming very quickly now.

“I know the players, you know, they can’t wait to get started.”
