UFC: Michael Bisping tells Tom Aspinall to ignore the hype surrounding his career after eye surgery

Aspinall has spoken publicly about his frustrations with Yahoo,, external He says he loves mixed martial arts but “hates the work” and believes “fighters are completely replaceable.”

The Englishman has been the standout performer in the UFC’s heavyweight division in recent years, with seven of his eight victories ending in the first round.

Aspinall has not set a time frame for his return to combat as he waits to see if surgery will correct his vision, but he could undergo further surgery later this year if necessary.

Aspinall spent 19 months as interim UFC champion before Jon Jones retired and his first defense as full champion ended in the first round against Gene and was declared a no contest.

Bisping became the UK’s first UFC champion three years after becoming legally blind in one eye.

The now-retired fighter believes the UFC may look to move the division forward without Aspinall as he continues his recovery.

“If Tom is on the sidelines now and Jon Jones is already retired with arthritis in his hips, then Alex Pereira, the next man over, is the most logical man,” he said.

“This is the world we live in. The show must go on.

“I had multiple eye surgeries. I wasn’t in constant contact with the UFC. They weren’t calling me or checking up on me.”
