Scarlets had three players at fault, but they held on for just their second league win of the season in a game in which Cardiff dominated possession and possession.

Center Eddie James crossed to give Scarlets the lead with Joe Hawkins adding the conversion.

Cardiff hit back level with a Mason Grady try after Josh McLeod and Davies both picked up yellow cards.

Callum Sheedy gave Cardiff the lead from a penalty kick just before the end of the first half, but Gareth Davies crossed twice, in the second attempt for the hosts, through Josh Adams.

Johnny Williams became the third Scarlets player to receive a yellow card on the hour mark, but high-flying Cardiff were unable to respond.

“It wasn’t great for the nerves,” Bell said.

“The three yellow cards put us in a difficult position, but we fought hard.

“We took our chances and I think we fought great for each other. It was a great win.”

Former Wales player Davies, 35, scored two tries at Arms Park for the third season in a row.

“I can’t speak highly enough of him because he’s so professional and keeps himself in great shape,” Bale said.

“He told me before the game that he wanted to get another double, so he backed that.”
