WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President J.D. Vance said the administration “absolutely” mishandled communications surrounding the Epstein files and their contents.

During a lengthy podcast interview with Joe Rogan released on Wednesday, Vance pointed largely to former Attorney General Pam Bondi, who infamously stated that an alleged “client list” of Epstein was “sitting on my desk right now.”
In addition to those comments, the Justice Department under Bondi also offered conservative and influential commentators folders called “The Epstein Files: Phase One” and “Declassified.”
“I know Pam. I love Pam. I don’t think there was anything malicious going on,” Vance told Rogan. “I think Pam was trying to respond to the political moment. I think she overestimated what we had and what we didn’t have.”

As a result, Bundy was publicly “roasted” for it, Vance said, leading people to “distrust” the administration’s transparency efforts over the Epstein files.
“We completely messed up the communications on the Epstein files. We just did it,” Vance said. “But do I think the reason we failed in communications is because we were trying to hide something? No.”
