✅ **What You’ll Learn**:

Performance-wise, there’s no pedal assist or throttle lag, as I’ve experienced on some cheaper e-bikes. I thought this would be alarmingly fast, but the sturdy frame and wide tires are incredibly stable. I felt very comfortable going fast (for an e-bike). I avoided tight corners and turns at full speed because the bike is so heavy, but other than that, I felt confident during the test.

With a maximum bike weight limit of 505 pounds, the Nomad 2 has a higher payload capacity than other e-bikes I’ve tested, especially folding models. Velotric also advertises a towing capacity of 1,000 pounds. This number is impressively high to me, but I have not tested this claim. However, I’m skeptical about how long the battery will last while towing 1,000 pounds of cargo.

Battery range is pretty standard for a full-sized e-bike, although impressive for a model this heavy. Velotric advertises a range of 65 miles for pedal assist and 45 miles for throttle, and I appreciate the inclusion of both ranges. However, I maxed out at about 37 miles on the throttle and about 47 miles with pedal assistance. To be fair, I often drive my car on hills and bumpy surfaces, which also drains the battery faster. I also enjoy the IPX7 water-resistant battery, as I’m likely to get caught in the rain during the shoulder seasons in southwest Montana, where I live. My Rad Powerbike can’t handle the rain with its partially sealed battery, so I’ll likely take out the Velotric if the weather isn’t cooperating.

I tested this bike for commuting purposes on paved roads in my suburban city. I’ve also used it off-road on bike trails, gravel, rutted dirt, and in open fields. It worked well in all scenarios. The massive 4-inch Kenda tires, which are perfectly inflated, do a great job of absorbing bumps while easily rolling over obstacles. I encountered some ruts and hills that I thought would result in a painful crash, but the bike handled them smoothly.
