Arsenal striker Viktor Gyukiris will undergo further tests this week amid fears he may have suffered a hamstring injury.
The Sweden international was withdrawn at half-time in Arsenal’s win over Burnley on Saturday after scoring the team’s first goal.
Speaking before the Champions League match against Slavia Prague on Tuesday evening, Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said: “I am concerned because he did not have many muscle problems and he needed to leave the field and he felt something.”
“Obviously that’s not a good sign at all, especially for a player who is so explosive.
“So we’re digging a little deeper to understand where we are in terms of infection and we’ll make an announcement the moment we know.”
There is hope that the decision to withdraw Gewkeres at half-time at Turf Moor will prevent further complications, with initial ideas suggesting the 27-year-old will be out for at least two weeks.
After the match with Slavia Prague, Arsenal will face Sunderland on Saturday before the majority of the squad depart for the international break.
Arsenal’s first match after the return of international matches is the North London derby against Tottenham on November 23.
Sweden coach Graham Potter is set to name his squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Switzerland and Slovenia, with Gjukeres’ inclusion now in doubt.
