📌 **What You’ll Learn**:

The new VX4 reaches Eco mode with a top speed of 15 mph. It will get you where you’re going, but it won’t give you chills. Oddly enough, Sport mode also goes up to 15 mph, but it gets you there fast. The torque is so strong in Sport mode that it took me most of my first ride to learn how to prepare for quick acceleration.

In addition to speed modes, you can also control start settings (roll or throttle), top speeds, password settings, and more on the app, a common feature on electric scooters. What’s even more impressive is that an app isn’t completely necessary, as you can access all of these controls through the bright, clear TFT display.

At first, I was annoyed because I couldn’t hold my phone on the handlebar. But once I realized that you can access every feature and adjustment on the screen, I appreciated being able to put my phone away and enjoy the ride. Unlike the simpler dot-matrix displays you’ll find on other scooters, the new VX4’s TFT screen is bright, clear and vibrant, even in direct sunlight. Navigation is simple thanks to the intuitive interface and responsive buttons.

The app itself is a bit simple, but I like that an app isn’t required to use the scooter. VMax doesn’t force you to register, and you don’t have to worry about connection issues.

For all the customization features, I would have liked to see a way to adjust the acceleration. I’m no stranger to fast starts, but it took me a few rounds to learn how to shift my weight when I shot it. I’m a fan of torque, but it may be too much for some people. Instead of customizing the rate of acceleration, the new VX4 offers a less aggressive Eco mode and a start-stop option that requires you to rock the scooter before engaging the throttle. The scooter still jumps to the point where you press the throttle, but it does not interfere with the start of the roll.

The new VX4 weighs 60 pounds, which isn’t reasonable for loading into the trunk or carrying a short distance. If you live on the third floor without an elevator, the weight will get old very quickly. But if you’re looking for a full-fledged mobility scooter, the full suspension, large battery, and powerful motor justify the weight.
