Wakefield Trinity battled it out in a hotly contested West Yorkshire derby with Leeds Rhinos, while Premiership leaders Wigan Warriors made short work of Bradford Bulls in the fourth round of the Challenge Cup.
After a long delay due to a power outage at DIY Kitchens Stadium, Wakefield took the lead through Harvey Smith.
Leeds responded with two tries from the in-form Maika Sivo and one from Ash Handley but Oliver Pratt’s score on the stroke of half-time reduced Wakefield’s deficit to two points at the break.
Matty Stourton sent the hosts ahead and Kee Rodwell went on to ensure a 24-14 victory and confirm Wakefield’s place in the quarter-finals for the second successive season.
Leeds have now failed to reach the last eight since winning the competition in 2020.
Wigan beat Bradford at Brick Community Stadium, scoring tries in the first half through Luke Thompson, Zac Eckersley and Liam Marshall.
Adam Kejran added a fourth for the Warriors before Ethan Ryan scored Bradford’s only try and debutant Dajon Sambo completed the scoring to seal a 30-6 win for the hosts.
