Jones confirmed that some players withdrew from the meeting and a large-scale training session on Tuesday was cancelled.
“There was a variety of emotions, not just anger,” Jones said.
“One of the reasons was anger, frustration, confusion, and maybe a little bit of fear around the unknown, which can cause anxiety.
“The players were frustrated by some of what they heard. Some were upset and just wanted to have their own space.
“It’s natural for people to want to do it and I support that. It was just one or two players.”
Following this, a number of Ospreys players, including Wales captains Jack Morgan and Dewey Lake and internationals Sam Barry, Dan Edwards and Gareth Thomas, shared a statement on social media saying they had been “left in the dark by the WRU and Y11”.
Jones supported his players’ actions.
“It was great, it was great to see them come together like that,” the head coach said.
“They are a tight bunch and enjoy each other’s company. You can see that in the statement.
“No one asked them to do this, it was on their own as a group of guys deciding what they wanted to say and what they wanted people to hear. I support them 100%.”
