Captain Sione Topoluto spoke before the England match about how Scotland were a “desperate team” with their Six Nations hopes on the line.

That desperation for a win certainly applies to Wales this weekend.

Steve Tandy, the former Scotland defense coach now in charge of Wales, has watched his side suffer defeat in their opening two matches, to England and France.

They are sitting at the bottom of the table, having scored only 19 points in two matches, while conceding 102 points.

France ran riot with eight tries in Cardiff to defeat Wales for the 13th successive time in the Six Nations.

However, Scotland have had enough bad experiences in Cardiff to not take victory for granted, even with Welsh rugby in dire straits.

“Obviously I know some of their coaching staff, Steve Tandy and [former Glasgow head coach] Danny Wilson said, Cummings said.

“It’s clear they will be ready for this game, having worked with us in the past.

“We expect a strong and courageous performance from them, and it will certainly be difficult to break them down.

“They will be a team that is clearly hurting and, as we did last week, often brings out the best in teams. So we expect a huge battle from them.

“I want to put pressure on us. We need to look at every moment as the most important moment in the game. If we don’t do that, I don’t think we will win it. So I don’t think the pressure is on us.

“In international rugby, you’re always under pressure to do well. I think it’s going to be a huge game for us, but we’re certainly not resting on the weekend after having put in a complete performance.”
