He has also been provisionally suspended for Cardiff’s Challenge Cup opener at Stade de France, but will be available for the trip to Paris if he completes the World Rugby Training Intervention Programme.

A statement read: β€œThe Disciplinary Committee upheld the red card issued to the player and, through application of the International Rugby League sanctions provisions, decided that a medium-term entry point of six weeks/matches was appropriate.”

β€œIn light of the player’s acceptance of wrongdoing as well as other mitigating factors, they have applied the maximum penalty reduction of 50%, thus reducing the final penalty to three weeks/matches.”

Wales sent Adams alongside Blair Murray and Louis Rees-Zammit in a back three against Japan.

Rees-Zammit will also be unavailable against the Springboks as the match is outside World Rugby’s official Test window.

Tom Rogers started against Argentina in the opening match of the autumn while winger Rio Dyer and full-back Jacob Beetham were other options in Tandy’s squad.
