DAVOS, Switzerland (AP) — Corporate heads and government leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump, are in Davos, Switzerland, this week, to join the elite annual World Economic Forum that promotes dialogue and economic progress, even as Washington’s actions have upended the global order and billionaires reap trillions in new wealth as the poor fall behind.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday that the European Union “should not hesitate” to use the trade bloc’s anti-coercion tool in the face of Trump’s threats to impose tariffs on Greenland.

The anti-coercion tool, informally known as the “trade bazooka”, could impose sanctions on individuals or institutions found to be exerting undue pressure on the EU.

Trump’s third visit to Davos as president comes as US allies worry about his ambition to control Greenland, while Latin America grapples with his efforts to control Venezuela’s oil and business leaders and lawmakers at home, and express concerns about his tough tactics toward Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.
