Dale Caldwell was sworn in as the state’s lieutenant governor. Caldwell, a pastor at Covenant United Methodist Church in Plainfield, has served as president of Centenary University since 2023.
Sherrill beat her Republican opponent, former state Rep. Jack Ciattarelli, in the November gubernatorial election by about 14 percentage points.
Sherrill succeeds Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy and will serve a four-year term.
