Bondi was on Capitol Hill for a closed-door interview in which she defended the administration’s actions to House lawmakers examining the operation, which was delayed and included personal information about potential victims.

Democratic lawmakers said Bondi told them she would not talk about the president in an interview on Friday, and, accompanied by a Justice Department lawyer, noted she was able to decline questions because she agreed to appear before the committee voluntarily.
“It’s a scam out there. They’re not answering any questions,” Democratic Rep. Dave Maine said during a break in the interview.
She also said that Todd Blanche, her former deputy who is now acting prosecutor, oversaw the release of the case files.
