Every country has a role to play in a global initiative for critical minerals, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a meeting of dozens of countries, Rubio proposed frameworks that would serve as “policy coordination platforms” to ensure countries have access to abundant and affordable access to critical minerals.

“So we are ready and we intend to work with every country here today to find a specialized role that you can play,” Rubio said, as he hosted a Cabinet meeting at the State Department with dozens of countries to build a bloc to rebuild global supply chains for critical minerals without China. “Everyone here has a role to play, and that’s why we’re so grateful for you to come and be part of this gathering that I hope will lead not only to more gatherings, but to action.”
